Bringing back glass recycling pickup

There’s a reason communities are losing glass in their curbside recycling. When glass is mixed with other recyclables, it gets broken and contaminated, making it hard to recycle. Plus, it’s heavy and expensive to transport.

And yet, our community knows it’s important: glass can be recycled over and over again, right here in Washington.

Because of your support, glass recycling pickups are available again in Olympia and Pierce County.

The Ridwell team sorts glass to ensure the material we bring to our recyclers is clean and can really be recycled. Our partners turn this glass into ‘cullet’, small pellets of glass. They send this glass cullet to glass producers who make new glass bottles and jars.

Glass recycling gets people really excited!

“I've been hoping glass will come.

This is huge and will make a big difference for me! I can likely convince others to join for glass recycling too!”

Michaela in Olympia

“A great value to Ridwell memberships.

It's really difficult to store and transport glass!”

Jordyn in Tacoma

“Very excited for this!

We were really bummed when curbside recycling went away. Took a few glass loads to recycling center but it got too annoying and we stoped recycling them, so I'm excited for this.”

Greg in Tacoma
